10x10 Photobooks for a Salon with photographe/ bookmaker Catalina De la Cruz & writer / bon vivant Liz Sales.

Catalina De la Cruz, born and resides in Santiago de Chile, uses photographic processes of the 19th century and digital photography to create unique, handmade (edition of one) “photo-chemical” photobooks. She addresses themes of territory, intervention, and occupation – and will present three of her books this evening. De la Cruz’s work has been exhibited internationally – and she has had residencies at Center of the Image (Lima) and International Photography Festival of Valparaíso.

 

10x10 Photobooks is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization with the mission to foster engagement with the global photobook community through an appreciation, dissemination and understanding of photobooks. Founded in 2012, 10x10 offers an ongoing multi-platform series of public photobook events, including reading rooms, salons, publications, online discussions, and partnerships with art organizations and institutions. 10x10 is run by Olga Yatskevich, Russet Lederman and Michael Lang.

 

Cada año, el Festival Internacional de Fotografía de Valparaíso invita a distintas personalidades del ámbito de la fotografía, fotógrafas y fotógrafos, curadores, investigadores, colectivos, editores a conversar con el público presente sobre diversos temas relacionados la fotografía.

Esta iniciativa se propone como una instancia de encuentro en torno a la fotografía actual, en modalidad de entrevistas, conversatorios, mesas redondas, djbooks.

Todos los Diálogos Fotográficos se realizarán en El Internado (pasaje Dimalow 167, Cerro Alegre), de 18:00 a 21:30 horas.

Catalina de la Cruz,(Santiago) Fotógrafa y Magíster en Arte de la Universidad de Chile, conversara sobre fotografía química y mostrará parte de su proceso de trabajo en esta área, a través de fotografías y su último Libro FotoQuímico.
